Daniel L. Wohl, MD has been practicing Pediatric ENT for over twenty years.  After earning his degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he completed his Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery training at the Temple University Health Sciences Center, also in Philadelphia.  Subsequent to his specialty residency training, Dr. Wohl completed a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, Michigan.  In 1991, Dr. Wohl became a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology.  He was accepted as an Otolaryngology Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1994 and was accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1995. He became a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology in 1995.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wohl has contributed steadily to his profession.  He continues to serve on national, state and local committees for multiple organizations and has consistently trained other physicians in the art and science of pediatric otolaryngology.  He continues to promote ongoing professional education with participation and involvement in postgraduate courses and as a consultant for instrumentation design.  He has authored eighteen publications in medical journals and textbooks, along with numerous editorial reviews.  In 2005, the textbook, “Complications in Pediatric Otolaryngology” was released for publication culminating years of work as a co-editor of this well-received new medical tome.  Every year, Dr. Wohl dedicates a generous portion of his time promoting medical excellence with annual lectures to doctors, medical students, and nurses across the United States and abroad. 

From 1991-2000, Dr. Wohl served as Director of Pediatric Otolaryngology for both the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth University and for the local free standing Children’s Hospital, in Richmond, Virginia.  During that tenure, he was instrumental in establishing pediatric otolaryngology throughout the greater Richmond and Central Virginia metropolitan region where he earned the reputation as a tireless patient advocate.  He was promoted to Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics in 1999.

In 2000, Dr. Wohl was asked to lead the ongoing development of the Pediatric Otolaryngology program at the Nemours Children’s Clinic here in Jacksonville.  He and his family moved to northeast Florida to assume that position and he served with distinction as Division Chief for two years.  During this tenure, he was appointed as an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the Mayo Medical School.

In order to best serve children and their families in the manner that he would choose for his own family, Dr. Wohl decided to leave corporate administered clinic medicine in 2003 and establish a private practice in pediatric and adolescent otolaryngology.  This has allowed him to get closer to his patients and their families, and to practice family orientated, service driven Pediatric Ear, Nose, and Throat care for his newly adopted community.  Medicine is a perpetually evolving discipline, and Dr. Wohl has maintained his academic affiliations with an appointment as Courtesy Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida, Department of Surgery program, in Jacksonville.

Dr. Wohl brings up-to-date medical knowledge and skills to his private practice.  When he began his studies, the introduction of fiberoptics to otolaryngology was a relatively new advancement, and in the past twenty years pediatric endoscopes have allowed his specialty to look better and deeper inside ears, noses, and throats with more detail than ever before.  Dr. Wohl will use currently available microinstrumentation to carefully and safely diagnose problems related to ear, nose, and throat in children and adolescents.  This same technology now allows most treatment to be less invasive, and completed in less time with fewer side effects.

The practice of medicine is undergoing dramatic change in the United States. Families are being asked to take on ever greater responsibilities.  Evidence Based Medicine principles and newly published guidelines are being increasingly utilized to try and standardize care. Not every child, and not every family, however, fits neatly into ‘one box’ and Dr. Wohl continues to try and individualize care as much as reasonably possible. This often requires a collaborative process with parents and you are encouraged to ask questions at any time throughout the examination process.
